Why I can not afford a house?

Why I can not afford a house?

Because they are too expensive.

Why are they so expensive?

Because the amount of manpower and material needed to build a house is expensive.

Why don't they build cheaper houses?

They do, its call manufacture homes; trailers.

But my income compare to the national average is right there with everyone elses. Therefore, we would expect everyone to live in trailers, but they don't. Most people live in houses.

-----------------------
Most people don't "own" their homes. They bought it on credit; a 30 year mortage is normal. That mortage is purchasing power over 30 years compress into today. It is a "magical" purchasing power.

People buys houses on credit, therefore, the housing industry keeps building houses at those high prices b/c people are buying them. If we stop buying them, the industry would have to build houses that we can actually afford.

Note: the problem of credit.
